What if You Had to Give a Presentation….

to faculty on your first day of your new job?  While not really a predicament, I want to make a statement.  Here are the facts:

  • This is an annual faculty in-service(10/26), so I won’t have the exact opportunity for another year

  • I will be presenting last and have only 20-30 minutes

  • Presenters before me will be talking about Pageflakes, PRS systems, Podcasting, Exam View and Camtasia

  • Attendees are full-time faculty who use very little instructional technology.  I’ve been told they mainly use technology for email and internet research.

  • This will be their first time meeting me

  • I want to excite, not scare them, and get them to contact me for more help

If you had this opportunity, what are a few tools you would showcase?  Do you have examples of others using them in higher ed?  Here are my thoughts:

  • I need to show things they can easily access and implement without training or supporting documentation.

  • This can be classroom or distance technology

  • I need to show immediate value

  • I will most likely use my http://workforce.ning.com site as the presentation tool, and link to anything else I will be showcasing.

Thanks in advance for your ideas!
